In the Student Writing Conference, a couple of students of various
sections read out loud their short story made for his or her English class. Their where about childhood incidents
including medical facilities or high school experiences. There were various professors
of intermediate English. The public was hearing each student when they were
reading their short story. Some laugh, some talked, and some just stared at
their phones.
It was a beautiful activity because every student could
share his or her experience through the microphone. We, the public, could hear
them express their experience and feelings. We all got to hear what they say.
Also, we could know about the other students of other sections, and realize
that we are all at the same level of knowledge. Although almost everyone was
talking, I could hear the student's short story. It was like in class, when
everyone read their short story and we all could know a little bit about
ourselves. This activity reaffirmed me that every one experience similar events
during his or her life. As everyone has at least one similar event, we all
could be among friends. We all felt a connection between us,
like if we all went through the same experiences.
The students who shared their story were
different but similar at the same time. They all had to share a story that
reflected who they were. For example, a cool interested girl read about her
experience with society and how she could manage it. You can relate to her,
having a similar feelings about society. I think we all had a feeling in
common.
I would have liked that the students
could have read more clearly because it was hard to understand them. Also, the
students of the public who were talking disrespected the readers. Over all, it
was a good experience that I would like it to be repeated some day.
